Conspiracies surrounding Hulk Hogan’s death have been rife amongst fans, as well as the wrestler’s friends and family – now new reports suggest that his passing may not have been as a result of natural causes
Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan may have been a victim of medical malpractice that led to his death, according to sources connected to the ongoing investigation.
The wrestling superstar, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, suffered a cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida home, however new reports are suggesting it may have been a surgical error that was to blame.
The Clearwater Police Department are supposedly looking into the circumstances surrounding his passing, especially allegations that a major nerve ending may have had a part to play in the wrestler’s demise.
Law enforcement sources, as reported by TMZ Sports, revealed that an occupational therapist present at Hogan’s home when he stopped breathing told responding officers that a recent surgery, possibly a heart procedure or a neck fusion operation, resulted in the severing of the phrenic nerve ending, which is crucial for stimulating the diaphragm and controlling breathing.
Sky Hogan, who married the wrestling icon in 2023, confirmed to TMZ Sports that Hogan’s phrenic nerve was “compromised” during one of his recent surgeries.
According to the police report, which is currently on “lockdown,” Hogan did not experience a chest-clenching episode; instead, he simply ceased breathing.
His wife Sky noticed the change and made a quick 911 call.
The Clearwater Police Department, speaking to TMZ, stated: “We have been in communication with family members, including his son, Nick, and daughter, Brooke.”
“The unique nature of this case has required us to interview multiple witnesses and seek medical records from a variety of providers, and our detectives continue to do that. All of this takes time.”
The department noted that the Hogan family has expressed gratitude for their efforts and ongoing communication.
While an autopsy has been completed, Sky declined to share the results and confirmed that Hogan’s body has not yet been cremated.
Brooke Hogan, the wrestler’s daughter, had previously called for an autopsy to clarify the cause of her father’s death.
Sources indicate that body cam footage captured conversations between officers and the occupational therapist at the scene, likely including discussions of the alleged malpractice.
Hogan’s health had been deteriorating in the weeks leading up to his death. A source close to the family revealed that the WWE star had been battling a “very weak heart,” suffering from shortness of breath, fatigue, and significant weight loss that left him looking frail.
“Terry knew he wasn’t in a good way,” the insider said.
Despite these challenges, Hogan remained dedicated to his fans, attending events and signing autographs even as his physical discomfort grew.
The wrestling and entertainment communities have been reeling since Hogan’s death was announced.
