Emmerdale fans are concerned for Mack as he’s AWOL from next week amid rumours that he’s leaving the ITV soap after Thursday’s episode
Emmerdale’s Mackenzie Boyd stumbled upon a shocking revelation that could turn everything on its head, with a deadly twist unfolding on Thursday.
Earlier this week, a plot twist involving murderer John Sugden and newcomer Ben left him reeling, with John exacting his revenge on Thursday night.
This comes amid whispers that Mack, played by actor Lawrence Robb, might be leaving the soap, potentially becoming John’s next victim.
On Wednesday night, Mackenzie was shown the door by his wife Charity Dingle following a disagreement over their surrogacy storyline. With Charity embroiled in her own secret DNA scandal, Mack voiced his true feelings about their current predicament.
Charity recently discovered she was pregnant after an embryo transfer, agreeing to act as a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden. However, after a night with her ex Ross Barton, she is now unsure if the baby is Sarah’s or hers, according to the Mirror, reports Belfast Live.
Meanwhile, Mack, unaware of the affair or the fact that she kissed her other ex Vanessa Woodfield on the same night she slept with Ross, aired his grievances about recent events. The episode ended with Mack being kicked out by Charity and finding himself in the sights of killer John.
As Mack clambered into the secret killer’s van whilst waiting for John to accompany him, he stumbled across a scrapbook crammed with snaps from John’s military service.
Mack was innocently flicking through the images, only to uncover one featuring John beside a remarkably recognisable face.
John was pictured with his “brother in arms” Ben, the very same Ben who had served as the removal operative collecting Nate Robinson’s possessions from his wife Tracy’s residence months before.
Viewers are conscious that by this stage, Nate had already perished, having been covertly killed by John.
Consequently, audiences understood that John had arranged the collection, though it wasn’t disclosed until Wednesday that Ben and John were former military comrades.
Ben had been assisting John in concealing his crimes by gathering the belongings, and this week he alleged the individual he encountered was Owen – the man John had set up for Nate’s murder.
Mack happened to be present in the shop with Ben when he told police that Owen was the client.
Therefore, spotting the photograph of Ben alongside John provided him with all the evidence he required.
On Thursday evening, John realised that Mack had pieced everything together.
A gripping confrontation then unfolded in the woodland, during which John pursued Mack whilst wielding a crossbow.
John succeeded in bringing down Mack and the bolt pierced straight through his torso.
Still breathing but injured, Mack was trapped by John who seized a massive stone and hurled it downwards, apparently finishing off Mack.
The fate of Mack remains uncertain, but when actor Lawrence was recently quizzed about his potential departure from Emmerdale, he cryptically replied: “Yeah there are lots of rumours”, adding in a six-word response, “and the rumours they shall remain”.
He further commented: “Ultimately, if and when the time comes for me to leave, whether my choice or the choice of writers and producers, then I will be thankful for the time.”
Intriguingly, fresh spoilers suggest that Mack is missing in action from next week’s episodes. While nothing is confirmed, it seems a grisly end might be looming for Mack this week…
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays
