Air fryers are all the rage but this new two-tray device has the added benefit of smart tech under the hood where you can control it from afar using an app over wi-fi connection
Air-Fryers are increasingly getting hi-tech and the latest release from Cosori combines wi-fi smart technology with speedy cooking.
The result is the impressive TurboTower Pro Smart, a costly air fryer but one you can control both in and out of the home thanks to an internet connection and a suite of clever online controls.
The unit is hefty in size, standing just shy of 16ins in height, but slim in width with two cooking trays at its disposal for big families with big dinner plans.
This is a 10.8litre device made with the aim of reducing cooking costs and helping families in particular make healthy, convenient meals in less time that a traditional oven.
Out of the box it feels the part, well-made, premium looking and chunky with deep cooking trays and a simple user-friendly on-device control face.
Thanks to the dual-basket design, users can cook two different foods at the same time with independent cooking zones.
Each basket has its own time and temperature controls, making it easy to prepare a whole, balanced meal conveniently.
So whether cooking eight slices of toast, two 9-inch pizzas, or a 5lbs whole chicken, both air fryers accommodate family-sized portions with ease.
You get an added raised grill in the package too that you can pop in the bottom basket too to give you a third layer to cook on.
Inside, both air fryers are powered by a high-performance DC motor that offers multiple fan speed levels to ensure optimal cooking results.
From 900 to 3600 rpm, the motor adapts to suit different cooking needs: low speed for dehydration and proofing, medium speed for baking, and high speed for air frying and roasting.
The top convection system ensures consistent air circulation and precise temperature control, supported by a centrally located spiral heating tube that evenly emits heat across the cooking area.
My favourite part of this machine is the sync button.
Say your top tray needs 20 minutes of cooking for your chicken, and the bottom tray needs 15 minutes for chips.
Simply set both times independentlyeither on-device or via the free-to-download VeSync app on your phone, press Sync, and the smart machine will start cooking your chicken, kicking in the chips ten minutes later so that both end cooking exactly the same time.
It means you can prep different types of meal and ensure everything comes to an end at the same time.
That’s great for those of us who struggle on a Sunday getting everything timed well when doing a roast.
My spuds are usually cold by the time I’ve fully cooked the chicken, for example.
Dual Blaze heating tech for its second cooking zone also utilises both top and bottom heating elements to cook food more evenly and efficiently, eliminating the need to shake or flip grub during cooking.
The TurboTower Pro Smart does all that for you, and thanks to the wireless app controls, you can monitor all the cooking in real time from the comfort of your sofa without the need to keep an eye in the kitchen.
The VeSync app also helps health-conscious folk to keep track of what they’re eating thanks to Weekly Reports on what you’ve cooked and achievement charts if you want to try to reward good eating habits.
It also has a separate Diet section where you can search through a host of recipes for the air fryer as well as cooking times for certain meats, carbs and veggies as the device tends to be a bit speedier at cooking than your traditional oven times.
There are also articles on better eating, giving advice on the correct amount of protein, nuts and seeds to consume.
The TurboTower Pro Smart is incredibly simple to use both with the touch screen on the unit and via the app, and it ranges from 30°C to 230°C and feature seven multifunctional presets on the retail versions: Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Grill, Reheat, Dry, and Proof.
After cooking, the unit also features a ceramic-coated interior instead of standard non-stick coating in the trays.
They provide a PTFE- and PFOA-free surface that is more durable and easier to clean with your scrubber. Fantastic.
Overall, this is a hefty but easy-to-use air fryer with wi-fi connectivity to give you maximum control of the food you cook and how you do it.
It looks and feels premium, and the smart tech under the hood is great for recipe ideas and moment-to-moment monitoring of your grub.
It’s not cheap at a penny under £300 but you do get what you pay for in this modern oven device.
