Emmerdale’s Dawn Fletcher could be left devastated in upcoming scenes
Emmerdale fans believe they’ve unveiled Robert Sugden’s new love interest, and it’s bad news for Dawn Fletcher.
Soap fans will recall that Robert (Ryan Hawley) made a surprise appearance at his ex-husband Aaron’s (Danny Miller) wedding to his brother, John (Oliver Farnworth), back in May.
Since then, Robert has found himself at the heart of numerous high-profile plots.
Notably, he stole Lewis Barton’s (Bradley Riches) drugs and sold them to newcomer Ray Walters (Joe Absolom), before striking a deal with Kim Tate (Claire King).
Robert was also spiked by his date, Owen Michaels (Simon Haines), who was subsequently framed by John for Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) murder – a claim Robert wasn’t buying, reports Belfast Live.

Earlier this month, Robert announced his plans to expose John, leading to a violent clash between the brothers that culminated in Robert hitting his evil sibling over the head with a wrench.
On Friday (15th August), Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) convinced Robert to spend some quality time with his nephew, Harry (Adam Pryor).
After spotting Aaron chatting with Robert at the café, John decided to exact revenge by encouraging Harry to play loudly with his drum kit at home.
Back at Keepers, Harry’s relentless drumming pushed Robert to breaking point, causing him to lose his cool and yell at the youngster, just as John popped round.
A distraught Harry clung to a smug John, leaving Robert feeling utterly devastated.
Later on, John revealed to Aaron what had transpired, explaining: “I was worried something like this would happen. You should have seen Harry, he was terrified, came running to me.”
He continued: “I put [Robert] in his place, insisted he needs to get help. He’s volatile. You know, he’s put me in hospital, given Vic a black eye, and now he’s terrifying little kids.”
Aaron responded: “Yeah, but come on, he’s not gonna hurt Harry, is he? He was always amazing with Seb,” which promptly irritated John, who felt his husband was “defending” Robert.
Now, numerous Emmerdale viewers are speculating that Robert might embark on a fresh romantic storyline with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
Devoted soap watchers will recall that Joe made his comeback to the Dales in December 2024, subsequently causing chaos throughout the village. He’s currently romantically involved with Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley).
One Reddit user theorised: “I can’t describe why but I have a theory that Joe and Robert will hit it off as another complication between Robert and Aaron, before John is gone for good.”
Another viewer commented: “I’m a die hard Robron fan but I’m not against Robert being with someone else for a while,” whilst a third remarked: “I don’t think it’s going to happen but Joe already has more chemistry with Rob than he has with Dawn.”
A fourth enthusiast shared similar thoughts, declaring: “I would totally be on board with a Joe and Robert relationship.”
