Brooklyn Beckham gave an emotional speech at his wedding vow renewal ceremony for his wife Nicola Peltz and addressed her family – but appeared to not mention his own
Brooklyn Beckham delivered a heartfelt address at his wedding vow ceremony, lavishing praise upon his wife Nicola Peltz’s relatives. Sources reveal that Brooklyn also “spoke movingly” about his spouse during the speech before 200 guests at his father-in-law’s property on August 2.
An insider close to the pair revealed: “He spoke from the heart – and at the centre of his heart is Nicola who he loves very dearly, but also the Peltz family who have really stuck by his side. He wanted to recognise them all, and was determined to do them all justice.”
Reports of the “heartfelt tribute” to Nicola’s parents, Nelson and Claudia, will compound the anguish of the Beckham clan, who have been frozen out of his existence. It’s believed there was no comparable acknowledgement of his own parents, David, 50 and Victoria, 51.
The ceremony witnessed actress Nicola, 30, donning a redesigned version of her mother Claudia’s bridal gown, with her father officiating the proceedings.
Word of the address emerges as pals of the Beckhams are already “terribly worried” that Brooklyn is behaving “desperately out of character”, reports the Mirror.
The Lola star has faced accusations of cutting her husband off from not just his parents, but his wider family circle and mates as well.
The entire Beckham dynasty – Cruz, Romeo, sister Harper, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins – were excluded from the American celebration. There’s also dismay in certain circles regarding the “gratuitous” aspect of the occasion, with the couple sharing countless snaps from their special day.
Some believe the Peltz-Beckham clan are “forcing it upon the Beckham family”. Numerous responses on the pair’s social media platforms seem to echo this view and are generally backing David and Victoria.
Nevertheless, the Mirror revealed at the weekend how Brooklyn was reportedly devastated that his spouse is being held responsible for his family’s no-show at their vow renewal ceremony.
An insider revealed: “It’s so rooted in misogyny. Everyone seems to forget Brooklyn is an adult man, fully capable of speaking out. Nicola would have respected all that he chose. It breaks his heart to see her painted as this vixen and viper.”
Wannabe chef Brooklyn, 36, has yet to officially comment on the dispute. However, this week he provided the strongest indication yet of his feelings by giving a thumbs up to an online message that questioned: “Why is it assumed she made the decision to exclude them? If he really wanted his parents there, they would be.”
Reports of the rift between Brooklyn and his relatives first surfaced earlier this year when he was absent from his father’s 50th birthday celebrations in London. Yet the disagreement appears to have expanded beyond his mum and dad to encompass his siblings too.
An insider commented: “It’s just all so sad.”
