UK hopefuls Remember Monday have banned reruns of their Eurovision adventure, after finishing a heart-breaking 19th in the Song Contest. After their current UK tour and a new song the trio will focus on their collaborations with McFly and dream of supporting the band live.
EUROVISON was so heart-breaking for UK hopefuls Remember Monday they’ve banned themselves from watching it back.
Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele finished 19th at the Song Contest earlier this year with earworm, What The Hell Just Happened?
But it was all too much for Holly who told the Daily Star: “No, I won’t watch it, I think I will feel sad. It breaks my heart. We were so invested, we put our hearts and soul into that experience and really lived every day to the max, it was ingrained into our brains what we were doing. We were so, so happy and proud to be there…it felt like a big heartbreak… it’s too sad to watch.”
Fortunately some of the McFly boys have been helping the girls get over the disappointment. The girls have been in the studio with Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter, and their collaborations are imminent-ish.
Detailing those new tunes Lauren revealed: “One is fun and silly and the other is again upbeat, so fun. There’s no break-up vibes in the future, I don’t know if we turned a corner. And what is nice is I feel like our music is quite nostalgic to the nineties and noughties at the minute, that’s what we grew up listening to and love that music and is something we wanna lean into more.
“So writing with McFly who were huge in the noughties, and a band we listened to as well, is amazing, they understand that world, that era really well so that’s been really great.”
Holly added: “That’s another relationship where we go, ‘how has this happened? They are so cool’, they are such good guys and they are our friends as well which is wild. If you told us that a year ago we would have laughed at ya!”
So perhaps Remember Monday can support McFly on tour? : “That would be nice I would like that,” responded Lauren. “We’ll give them a text! We do think we are the perfect collaboration.”
For now the country trio are back with a UK tour and an ace new song, More Than Ever penned with Cian Ducrot. Lauren said: “We have been in a few sessions with him and his brain is absolutely incredible, such a good musician and writer and we’ve become really good friends now which is really lovely.
Holly added: “We’d love to do more but he’s a bit busy being a star, Grammy winning superstar!”
It all goes to prove there IS life after Eurovision.
Holly agreed: “The fan base we can’t thank enough for sticking by us and supporting us. We understand when we are in the Eurovision world we are everywhere, we are all on the TV and the radio and everything and it does feel like a peak. Like, there is a drop, there is, there has to be a drop as we are not the UK representative any more but we have had a lot of love.”
Lauren added: “We will wear that Eurovision flag with pride forever, we are so grateful to that whole journey, it was honestly the best thing we ever done, and every year we will be rooting for the UK person.”
