Diane Keaton’s touching connection with Justin Bieber has been highlighted in the wake of the actress’ death, with the pair having collaborated on a music video together
Diane Keaton’s heartwarming bond with Justin Bieber and their musical partnership has come back into the spotlight following the Hollywood legend’s passing.
The celebrated actress, famed for her performances in The Godfather, Annie Hall and Father of the Bride, died in California at 79. She was with her family when she passed, according to relatives – though no additional details about her death have been disclosed.
A delightful chapter from Diane’s career has now resurfaced – her unlikely friendship with the pop sensation that blossomed into a musical collaboration. Their bond has been remembered just days after Justin made it plain he doesn’t require “healing” following his mother’s heartfelt social media message.
Diane and Justin’s paths first crossed on The Ellen Show in 2015 during her promotional appearance. The singer was 21 then, and the star made no secret of her admiration, calling him “gorgeous” and confessing, “I like that boy.”
When Ellen displayed a topless photograph of Justin, Diane shrieked with joy, prompting the studio audience to burst into applause as she playfully wondered if the musician might fancy a date with her. Ellen then delighted the actress with Bieber memorabilia, including a jumper emblazoned with the singer’s image, reports the Mirror US.
The presenter subsequently questioned Diane about whether she saw herself as a cougar and if she’d entertain romantic relationships with younger men. The star revealed she was receptive to the possibility but hadn’t previously had the chance to date anyone significantly younger.
However, their chat was abruptly cut short when Justin burst onto the stage, prompting a startled Diane to exclaim, “Oh no! Oh no!” as the pop star made his way over for an embrace. Following their brief encounter, Justin departed, leaving Diane to cheekily ask Ellen if she reckoned he might ask her on a date.
The footage has amassed over 10 million views on YouTube.
Fast forward to 2021, and Diane featured in Justin’s music video for his track Ghost, playing a bereaved grandmother grieving her late husband’s passing, whilst the crooner took on the part of her devoted grandson. The poignant video captured attention for its profound message and Diane’s compelling portrayal.
Justin revealed he chose the actress for her genuine warmth. Speaking to Vogue years afterwards, Diane described collaborating with the Baby sensation as “so much fun.”
lauding the pop icon as “a true gentleman.”
During a subsequent 2022 appearance on The Ellen Show, she declared her partnership with Justin “the most pleasant experience of my life.”
The music video has clocked up nearly 450 million views on YouTube as of this writing.
