Peter Andre has issued a furious statement on social media as he hit out at his ex-wife Katie Price’s “repeated lies” about their children, the Daily Star delves into their tumultuous relationship
Katie Price and Peter Andre were once one of the most talked-about couples in the entertainment world, but their high-profile marriage ultimately fell apart.
Yesterday, Peter Andre has launched a blistering attack on his former wife Katie Price in a damning social media statement.
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker, 52, has lashed out at supposed “repeated lies” from the ex-glamour model in an explosive online post. Peter and Katie parted ways in 2009 following four years as a couple – they are parents to son Junior, 20, and daughter Princess, 18. He condemned her latest “comments” regarding his children’s “welfare and living arrangements” and vowed he was prepared to “set the record straight” after 16 years.
The reality TV stars first crossed paths on the set of I’m A Celebrity in 2004, where they quickly hit it off despite Katie being in a relationship with Scott Sullivan at the time.
Glamour model Katie and pop sensation Peter were caught on camera flirting and even shared a hammock during their stint on the ITV programme.
Not long after their Australian jungle adventure, Katie and Peter became an item and tied the knot in 2005, marking the beginning of their ill-fated love story with a fairytale wedding.
After the public spat, Daily Star delved into the notorious Katie and Peter romance.
Fairytale wedding
Katie and Peter exchanged vows in a grand ceremony at the opulent Highclere Castle in Hampshire, famously known as the filming location for Downton Abbey.
Their extravagant wedding was nothing short of a fairytale, with Katie arriving in a Cinderella-style carriage drawn by six white horses.
The bride looked every inch the princess in a vibrant pink satin wedding gown featuring a seven-metre train, complemented by a dazzling crown and her hair styled in a beehive bun.
Peter also embraced the fairytale theme, donning an all-white tuxedo adorned with Swarovski crystals.
The loved-up couple even donned matching fake tans before they exchanged their vows; Katie even claimed Peter had hair extensions for the big day.
The star-studded ceremony boasted a guest list featuring the likes of Charlotte Church, Wayne and Coleen Rooney, and Paul Gascoigne.
However, the day wasn’t without its drama as the ceremony didn’t kick off until 90 minutes later than planned.
Katie was tardy to the wedding and guests were caught in traffic due to a nearby leaking tanker, causing cars to wait for police and firefighters to sort things out.
When the wedding finally got underway, it was interrupted when the portable toilets arrived at the venue, prompting cheers from guests who had been waiting to use the loo.
Later, proceedings were halted once again when members of Liberty X turned up late, but eventually, Katie and Peter said ‘I do’.
Sticking to their fairytale theme, Katie and Peter chose their own rendition of A Whole New World from Disney’s Aladdin.
Love breakdown
What started as a storybook romance descended into devastation four years later when Katie and Peter called it quits in 2009.
The split came after Katie welcomed their second child, daughter Princess, in 2007, and just a month following her heartbreaking miscarriage at 10 weeks pregnant.
The break up turned nasty, with Katie claiming Peter disapproved of her party-mad ways whilst Peter stayed tight-lipped about the reasons behind their separation, though he hinted it was down to Katie’s alleged infidelity, accusations she has consistently and vehemently rejected.
Katie had a black cross inked over her tattoo bearing Peter’s name, whilst Peter had his tribute to Katie removed from his ring finger.
In 2012, Katie took legal action against Peter for allegedly revealing intimate details about her personal life. Later that year, Katie alleged that Peter was preventing her from seeing their children over Christmas, taking to Twitter to vent: “I HATE him so much. I wish people knew what he is really like!”
Katie has also revealed that Peter suspected she was having an affair with her horse trainer Andrew Gould, allegations which she has firmly refuted.
It’s understood that it took barely over a minute for the High Court judge to rubber-stamp their divorce in London back in 2009.
She subsequently wed MMA fighter Alex Reid for just one year, from 2010 to 2011, before tying the knot with Kieran Hayler from 2012 to 2019, with whom she shares two children, Bunny and Jet.
Katie has since got engaged to Love Island star Carl Woods.
Peter later married NHS doctor Emily in 2015 and they share two children, Millie and Theo, with Emily stepping into the role of stepmother to Junior and Princess. The family lives in Surrey.
Public spat
Posting on Instagram on Thursday (August 14), he penned: “For sixteen years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today.
“The latest comments about my children’s welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood.”
He went on: “In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children.”
“In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases, found my ex-wife had made false claims. She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise, to me and my management. The same falsehoods are being repeated today.
“Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations I have yet to address. Those will now be dealt with in the coming months.”
In response to Peter’s comments, Katie’s representatives retorted: “Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation, this was in the past and she doesn’t feel the need to bring up tit for tat comments, but more importantly she’s dealing with this the right way and it’s now in her lawyers hands. Kate will no longer be gaslight and bullied as she once was.”
