Three teenage footballers have been sacked after they posed for selfies with an adult film star as the club released a furious statement
Three teenage footballers have been booted out of their club after posing for selfie photos with a well-known adult star actress they bumped into at an airport.
The 17-year-olds were given their marching orders from Brazilian Atletico Goianiense’s U17 side following the snaps with Elisa Sanches.
Sanches made the headlines in the UK earlier this year after revealing she was training to become a football referee.
The 42-year-old award-winning adult actress, among some of the adult industry’s most-watched performers, told local media in March as she described herself as an ex-adult entertainer although she is still understood to be performing: “I see a bright future as a referee.
“I want to study hard for the tests and pass the first time. But I confess that sometimes I wonder if the players and the public would respect me.”
The names of the teenagers who posed for selfie pics with Elisa have not been revealed but their faces have appeared unpixelated in South American media outlets that have run the story.
A spokesman for Atletico Goianiense, whose senior side plays in Brazil’s Serie B, refuted reports the players’ club exit had anything to do with the photos they took with Sanches.
He told local media it was based on “technical performance criteria” and insisted the club had asked three other U17 footballers to leave.
The ailing team has picked up three points from the 16 games it has played so far this season and lies bottom of its table.
They are yet to notch up their first win and were thrashed 8-1 by Gremio last week.
Elisa, who has 964,000 Instagram followers and defines herself online as a digital creator, actress, model and presenter, has yet to comment on the furore.
