The official White House Instagram account has caused a stir after it posted a video of Border Czar Tom Homan appearing as the baby sun from the popular children’s show, Teletubbies
The official White House X account is stirring up a storm again, this time with a video featuring Border Czar Tom Homan as the sun from Teletubbies.
In the clip, Homan’s face appears to be superimposed onto the image of the Teletubbies’ sun, which in the programme is portrayed by a giggling baby. The post was captioned: “Good Sunday Morning. Every criminal illegal alien will be deported – Tom Homan is making America Safe Again.”
This isn’t the first time the official White House Instagram page has raised eyebrows, with previous posts including an AI-generated image of President Donald Trump depicted as a Jedi, Superman, and even the Pope.
Social media is ablaze as some arguing that the official White House account should steer clear of such juvenile antics.
One X user questioned: “Is the immaturity and unprofessionalism of the @WhiteHouse twitter account an embarrassing disservice to decent, hardworking Americans?”
However, another user saw the lighter side, commenting: “I’m just happy that we have an administration that understands memes and gen Z culture.”
The Mirror US reports that some pointed out the irony of the account using imagery from Teletubbies after the administration moved to defund PBS. Teletubbies, originally a British show broadcast on the BBC, aired in the U.S. on PBS for a while.
One user queried: “Why are they copying the Teletubbies’ Sun? Didn’t they try to get rid of PBS?”
Homan was appointed as Trump’s Border Czar earlier this year. He has previously suggested that Immigration and Customs (ICE) agents should be able to racially profile individuals when dealing with suspected undocumented immigrants.
“People need to understand ICE officers and Border Patrol don’t need probable cause to walk up to somebody, briefly detain them, and question them … based on their physical appearance,” Homan stated during a Fox News appearance in July.
Homan has issued threats to arrest and prosecute numerous Democratic lawmakers, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, for what he perceives as interference in immigration enforcement.
When asked if his arrest threats included Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Homan declared: “You cross that line, it’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien. It’s a felony to impede law enforcement doing their job.”
Newsom hit back at Homan at the time, daring him to follow through on his threats, during civil unrest in Los Angeles over ICE operations in the city.
“He’s a tough guy. Why doesn’t he do that? He knows where to find me,” Newsom retorted. “That kind of bloviating is exhausting. So, Tom, arrest me. Let’s go.”
Homan later responded to those comments, stating he had “no intention” of arresting Newsom.
