Some 78% of Brits say drinking a cuppa abroad just doesn’t give that special taste compared to one brewed at home while 66% say they bring their own tea bags on holiday
Holidaymakers in Spain will be able to enjoy a proper British tea after groundbreaking research.
Brew boffins have unveiled a tea blend carefully crafted to work perfectly with Spanish water. It comes as research found 66% of Brits take their own tea bags on holiday while 78% say their cuppa abroad doesn’t taste the same as home.
Online travel agent On the Beach and Lancashire Tea joined forces to carry out the probe. Zoe Harris, chief customer officer at On the Beach said: “We’ve stirred things up with some tea geniuses and brewed up a solution that’s steeped in science.
“Now you can sip, sunbathe and say ‘ahhh’ knowing your cuppa tastes just like it does at home, only with a better view and fewer soggy biscuits.”
Tony Warr, Master Tea Blender at Lancashire Tea, said: “We’ve been brewing up brilliant tea for years, but this was a whole new blend game. We set about matching the Spanish water with teas from every corner of the world, all while keeping that distinctive Lancashire flavour we know and love right at the heart of everything we do.
“After blending the finest teas from Kenya, Malawi and India, we reckon we’ve crafted something really special, a proper brew that’ll give you a lovely taste of home while you’re soaking up the Spanish sunshine.”
It follows research that found members of Gen Z are making cups of tea in the microwave because they’re too lazy to put the kettle on. Almost two-thirds of under-30s admitted to making a brew using the bizarre method.
And another study found nearly eight in 10 Brits agree that we should never put milk in a cuppa before hot water.
The research found that the majority of folk (67%) think the perfect cup of tea is English Breakfast, and the best way to make it is by letting the bag stew for two minutes to achieve an ultimate shade.
Half think a splash of semi-skimmed milk should then be added to bring the temperature down to 57 degrees – which they considered the perfect temperature for cuppa.
It comes as Brits crowned the custard cream as the king tea-dipper. Biccie fans say the snack’s combination of solidity, creaminess and crumbliness makes it the tastiest and hardiest option when it comes to lowering it into cuppas.
It took nearly a third of the vote in a league table of the best biscuits for dunking.
The cream beat off competition from the chocolate digestive – ranked by 28% of the nation as the finest dunk option.
Rich Tea also goy 28% of the vote, followed by the Bourbon (26%), while Hob Nobs, with 22%, also making the top 10.
