Sports presenter Laura Woods’ collapse on air put her romance with Adam Collard in the spotlight, as fans realise she’s dating the former Love Island hunk
Laura Woods and Adam Collard have never been the kind of couple to slip quietly under the radar. The Love Island star and the hugely respected sports presenter surprised many when their romance first became public, but their bond quickly proved genuine and deep.
And now, after Laura’s frightening collapse live on air, attention has once again turned to their relationship at a moment when they may need each other more than ever.
He has now released a statement confirming the 38-year-old is okay. He wrote to concerned fans on his X account: “Laura is all ok and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”
The pair confirmed their romance in 2023 and soon became inseparable. Friends said Adam was unlike anyone Laura had dated before and that he brought out a sense of calm and confidence in her. By the summer of 2024 the couple revealed they were expecting their first child, sending fans into meltdown.
Their son Leo arrived in January 2025, a healthy and energetic baby who immediately became the centre of their universe. Laura spoke openly about the emotion of holding her son for the first time, admitting she cried for hours.
Adam was equally besotted and later said the moment he watched Laura bring Leo into the world completely changed him. He threw himself into fatherhood, sharing night feeds, early morning nappy changes and long pram walks so Laura could recover and rest. The pair often joked that Leo looked exactly like Adam but had Laura’s big bright eyes.
The couple got engaged on September 16, 2024, in Cornwall, at the Carbis Bay Estate where they reportedly first fell in love. The couple announced their engagement on social media on the same day.
Despite becoming a new mum Laura was eager to return to broadcasting and made her comeback to TNT Sports earlier than many expected. Balancing motherhood with late night fixtures and early starts was demanding, but Adam became her backbone at home.
He has repeatedly praised her work ethic while quietly making sure life behind the scenes ran smoothly. Laura has described Adam as her anchor saying he always knows how to steady her when life becomes chaotic.
Their playful football rivalry also continued into parenthood. Adam proudly posted photos of baby Leo in a Newcastle baby grow while Laura insisted their son would be raised as an Arsenal supporter. Fans loved the light-hearted bickering.
But everything changed during the live ITV broadcast on 2 December 2025. Just moments into a discussion about the upcoming England Women match Laura suddenly fainted on air. Viewers watched in shock as she collapsed without warning. Ian Wright and Anita Asante rushed to her side before the show hastily cut to an advert break. Social media erupted with concern.
When coverage returned presenter Katie Shanahan confirmed Laura was being looked after behind the scenes. Adam later reassured fans, posting: “Laura is okay and with the right people. Thank you for all your kind messages.”
Fans quickly flooded social media with supportive messages. One tweeted: “Hope Laura Woods is okay, that looked scary on TV.” Another wrote: “Sending love to Laura and baby Leo, get well soon!”
