Fayaz Khan, 26, was convicted last week following a trial at Southwark Crown Court, as Nigel Farage attended the sentencing hearing, accompanied by security guards and seated in front of journalists
An immigrant who arrived in the UK on a small boat has been sentenced to five years in prison for threatening to kill Reform UK leader Nigel Farage in a TikTok video last year. Fayaz Khan, a 26 year old Afghan national, made the chilling threat against the politician on October 14 in a video that Mr Farage described as “pretty chilling”.
Khan was handed his sentence at Southwark Crown Court today after being found guilty in a trial last week. In addition to this, he was also punished for illegally entering the UK, an offence to which he had previously pleaded guilty.
Mr Farage attended the sentencing hearing, accompanied by security guards and seated in front of journalists.
The court heard that on October 12 last year, Mr Farage posted a YouTube video titled “the journey of an illegal migrant”, which spotlighted Khan and mentioned “young males of fighting age coming into our country about whom we know very little”.
Prosecutor Peter Ratliff explained that Khan retaliated with a video two days later, which was shown to the jury. In the video, Khan warned: “Englishman Nigel, don’t talk shit about me. You not know me. I come to England because I want to marry with your sister. You not know me.
“Don’t talk about me more. Delete the video. I’m coming to England. I’m going to pop, pop, pop.”
Mr Ratliff informed the jury that Khan, while uttering “pop, pop, pop”, made “gun gestures with his hand”, headbutted the camera during the video, and pointed to an AK-47 tattoo on his face to “emphasise he wasn’t joking”.
Southwark Crown Court was told that he identified himself to British police as Fayaz Khan, aged 26, but Swedish authorities suspect his real name is Fayaz Husseini and that he’s 31 years old.
The court heard that he used a different name due to “enemies he did not want to find him”.
Mr Ratliff stated that prosecutors think it’s “more likely he has given a false name because of his record in Sweden”.
