A former Premier League manager has suggested Manchester United have to sack Ruben Amorim after his torrid run of form.
Amorim could only watch as the Red Devils were embarrassed by local rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. And it’s too much for some fans, with ex-Prem boss Sam Allardyce agreeing – suggesting the two parties should part ways.
“The bottom line speaks for itself, eight wins in 31 games,” Allardyce told Footy Accumulators.
“If I’m at a Premier League side, it’s harsh to say, but I wouldn’t keep my job, and that’s at a club far lesser than Manchester United, they’d expect better results than that. That’s relegation form.
“With the start of the season, the change around of players, despite that there’s not too much change in the systems of play. I played with a back three and a back five many times, and I explained it to the players and trained with it.
“It’s not easy if you’re not used to it. It’s a different way of defending. They’ve spent enough money on players to be more creative, but they’re not scoring any goals.
“If a player is playing out of position like Bruno [Fernandes], and he’s one of the top players, he needs to be put in a position he wants to play in more than anything else to express himself.”
He added: “Has he said that because he wants out? How many times have you seen a manager call his way out?
“His life’s a misery every day, since he’s been here his life is a misery.
“They’re in that office every day talking about what they should and shouldn’t do, but you listen to the lads around you and take their advice.
“In the bad times, that’s why they’re there.”
