- Hollywood icon Gene Hackman’s collection of film memorabilia and art has sold for $3 million (£2.25m) at auction.
- Over 400 items went under the hammer including The French Connection star’s “Pepsi” Quartz Diver’s wristwatch, which went for $21,760 (£16,000). Three of his Steinway grand pianos achieved a total of $78,080 (£59,000) at the sale by auction house Bonhams in New York.
- The late actor’s Golden Globe gong for movie The Royal Tenenbaums was flogged for $51,200 (£38,500), more than 17 times its estimated price. And his Golden Globe for classic flick Unforgiven achieved $43,520 (£33,000). The screen legend’s Bally Gilligan’s Island Electric Pinball Machine and his early script for film Silence of the Lambs was also sold.
