A discussion about being stood up at the altar arose on Thursday’s edition of Loose Women, with the panel sharing their thoughts on the topic
Thursday’s edition of Loose Women witnessed the panel tackle a variety of subjects, ranging from residing close to relatives to Donald Trump’s visit to the UK.
Kaye Adams was accompanied on the panel by Oti Mabuse, Kelly Brook and Nadia Sawalha, with the quartet leaving the audience in fits of laughter through their anecdotes and sharp observations.
One of the group’s discussion points focused on matrimony as they pondered whether it’s ever acceptable to abandon someone at the altar, following a recent Emmerdale storyline where Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) was left standing on her wedding day by Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).
The chat prompted former glamour model Kelly to share details about one of her engagements, disclosing she almost walked down the aisle but experienced last-minute doubts.
“I got engaged very young, and I felt like I was really, kind of, manipulated and coerced into something that I wasn’t ready for,” Kelly confessed to her co-stars.
The television personality went on to explain that it’s typical for individuals to desire remaining in a relationship with someone whilst not being prepared for the enormous commitment that marriage entails, reports Wales Online.
Kelly added: “So, from my point of view, I went along with it until the very last minute, then was like, ‘Hang on a minute, I’m not ready for this now’.
“It wasn’t like I jilted them. It was just that the whole situation was wrong. It wasn’t like there was a big preparation to a wedding and family there. I think if that happens, then it’s a lot more difficult.”
As her Loose Women co-stars expressed their astonishment, they probed Kelly for more information about her eleventh-hour decision to call off her wedding. The star confessed that she made the decision just hours before she was set to fly to Las Vegas for the ceremony.
“The jet was waiting! We were going to Vegas that day. It was like a movie, it was all very dramatic. I was just crying like, ‘I can’t do this! My mum’s not here!'” she chuckled.
Kelly then revealed: “I was in a dress. It was just horrific. It was the most horrific thing. But, we stayed together and I think he came round to it and understood why. I’m not going to mention who it was!”.
Kelly has been engaged four times and is now blissfully married to Jeremy Parisi. She has previously been betrothed to Hollywood star Jason Statham, actor Billy Zane, rugby champion Thom Evans and TV personality David McIntosh.
Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV1
