Daisy Campbell played Amelia Spencer on Emmerdale from 2011 until 2024
Emmerdale’s Daisy Campbell has opened up about her “abrupt” exit from the hit ITV soap.
The actress, 22, played Amelia Spencer in the village from 2011 until 2024. However, last year, Daisy, who was just seven-years-old when she was first cast as Amelia, found out she was being axed from the soap after 13 years.
Discussing her Emmerdale exit in a new candid interview, Daisy admitted she had a “gut feeling” that her role would be axed especially after her on-screen father Dan Spencer star Liam Fox quit the year before.
Speaking to The Sun, Daisy said: “When it’s been ripped away from you, because that’s what it genuinely felt like, it was so out of the blue – you do just get into a bit of a hole of, oh god, like, can I do this?
“It was weird, because it was so abrupt, obviously Liam Fox, who played Dan, my dad, he left the year before [in 2023], and I just had a feeling… I always get gut feelings.
“It was at the beginning of the year, things were quiet. Obviously, we had the new producer come in. And then when it came to contracts, nothing came through, so I was like, ‘oh’… and then obviously it happened.”
Daisy admitted she found herself in a “dark hole” after leaving the programme and her abrupt axing from the ITV soap. However, the actress has since moved onto new projects.
Over the summer, Daisy appeared in an episode of BBC medical drama, Casualty, as Georgina Birch. Meanwhile, more recently, she has launched her own Pilates studio business.
The actress shared on Instagram last month: “I’m so proud to say that I’m officially launching my first ever business @that.pilatesplace This has been the hardest secret to keep.
“This year i am so proud of myself. I’ve pushed myself in so many ways. In ways, I never could’ve never imagined. My Pinterest 2025 vision board has come to life.
“Beginning of this year I had so much anxiety, after losing my job last winter, and really didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life.
“I always knew I wanted to run my own business one day but didn’t know exactly where to begin. After I reflected on what I really wanted to do, I did a level 3 mat and reformer Pilates course over the spring and I’m so proud of myself for passing.
“I realised that I want help people with lifestyle and fitness, especially through pilates. I want to create a new community for so many people out there.
“Me and my 80 year old grandad have been renovating this old crown court for 8 weeks now and he’s taught me so much, and we’ve both worked so hard on this to get it to my dream.
“Every little detail is so special So I would like to welcome you officially to Pontefract’s first reformer Pilates studio A place for everyone and a place to reform your own way! Eeekkk I’m so excited for you to come on this journey, so get following and updates will be on there way… @that.pilatesplace.”
Daisy’s former Emmerdale colleagues were among the first to congratulate her on the accomplishment.
