Hollywood legend Diane Keaton has sadly died at the age of 79 and the actress shared a touching final photo with fans just months before her death
Diane Keaton shared her final post on Instagram shortly before her death.
A family spokesman confirmed to People that the beloved actress died at the age of 79 in California on 11 October 2025 and her family has asked for privacy during this difficult time. The First Wives’ Club actress had shared a gut-wrenching photograph on Instagram shortly before to her death, reports the Express.
The Hollywood legend was pictured with her beloved dog in what would become her final public post shared back in April. The Godfather actress appeared looked radiant as she cuddled her dog Reggie.
She was captured stroking her pet, who also wore a very cheerful smile while eyeing up some treats on the floor, as they sat together.
After the news of Diane’s passing broke, celebrities and former colleagues flocked to social media to honour the Hollywood legend and reminisce about their time with her. Stars including Robert De Niro and Bette Midler, who appeared with Diane in the 1996 comedy-drama The First Wives Club, have offered their condolences to the Hollywood icon.
Bette wrote: “I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me. She was hilarious, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was…oh, la, lala!”
Robert, who worked with Diane on multiple projects following The Godfather Part II, shared: “I am very sad to hear of Diane’s passing. I was very fond of her and the news of her leaving us has taken me totally by surprise. I was not expecting her to leave us. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.”
