EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa has opened up about a major change she has noticed in her life since turning 30 nearly three years ago
EastEnders favourite Jacqueline Jossa has revealed how she’s experienced a significant transformation after turning 30, confessing she “used to be very scared”.
The actor joined the BBC soap back in 2010 when she landed the role of Lauren Branning, quickly becoming central to some of the programme’s most gripping storylines over the past decade and a half.
But in a candid chat with Closer magazine, she revealed a remarkable shift she’s experienced since turning 30 nearly three years ago.
She said: “I don’t know what’s happened to me, but since I reached my thirties, I’m having a moment!”
She continued: “I love it. I feel great and I’m just more confident. I used to be a very scared person. I would get intimidated in big groups and try to mask it by being bubbly and chatty.”
Despite establishing herself as one of the soap’s most recognisable stars, it was confirmed in 2017 that she would be departing the programme.
Nevertheless, while taking a break from Albert Square, she was chosen in 2019 to compete on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, where she progressed to the finale before defeating fellow soap actor Andy Whyment (who portrays Kirk Sutherland in Coronation Street) to claim the crown as Queen of the Jungle.
Her absence from the soap temporarily ended in December 2022 when she made a one-off appearance for her on-screen grandmother’s funeral episode.
However, less than 12 months later, bosses confirmed she would be making a full-time comeback to the show.
In the latest episodes, Lauren has been at the centre of the drama, grappling with second thoughts about her impending nuptials to Peter Beale, portrayed by Thomas Law.
Following a series of suspenseful will-they-won’t-they moments, the couple finally said their vows, despite Lauren’s earlier confession that she almost called off the wedding to Peter.
EastEnders is set to return to our screens this evening at 7.30 p.m. (7 October) on BBC One.
