Tamara Hamby allegedly orchestrated a chilling kidnap with men in ski masks snatching her from home and tying her to a tree, after a ‘predator’ posing as a country singer reportedly tried to groom her
A mum has been accused of organised a mock kidnapping of her disabled daughter to frighten her off from speaking online to a stranger posing as country singer Luke Bryan.
Tamara ‘Tammi’ Hamby turned herself in to cops last Wednesday after allegedly enlisting three people to orchestrate a terrifying kidnap of her 22-year-old daughter, reports the New York Post. According to an arrest warrant and court records obtained by 5news, police deputies responded to a possible kidnapping of Hamby’s daughter, who has intellectual and physical disabilities, on November 17.
Hamby informed enlisted in-home nursing assistant, Shannon Yazmin Yvonne Childers, who helps care for the daughter, of the staged kidnapping, according to the warrant.
Childers allegedly recruited David Q. Quach and Nico Austria to help with the mock kidnapping. The two turned up at Hamby’s home in Arkansas, USA in ski masks and snatched her disabled daughter, 5news reported.
They then took her to a field, ziptied her and bound her to a tree, the warrant said. Terrified, the daughter eventually wriggled free and tried to flee, but was allegedly tackled by Austria and Quach, who tied her again to the tree. Hamby had been watching the entire time, the outlet said.
The daughter escaped again and contacted 911. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office deputy is reported to have said the daughter “was in fear for her life and clung tightly to a teddy bear the entirety of me speaking with her during her interview”.
Hamby reportedly resigned from her position on the Crawford County Library Board on November 24, saying she was moving out of the district, the outlet said.
The warrant said that after her daughter had been repeatedly contacted by someone posing as Bryan, Hamby allegedly arranged for someone to contact her pretending to be an associate of the country singer. That person would pick up Hamby’s daughter, take her to a field, and demand money before tying her to a tree. Hamby would then show up and “rescue” her daughter from the staged kidnap.
Hamby has been charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, abuse of an endangered adult or impaired person, battery, and terroristic threatening, according to court records obtained by The New York Post.
Quach, Austria, and Childers were also arrested in connection with the staged kidnapping, according to court records. County jail records show that none of the four are currently in custody.
Hamby will return to court on Wednesday.
