Humberside Police were called to a property on Searby Road in Scunthorpe at about 9am on Monday, where the boy was said to be suffering from a ‘medical episode’
A woman and a teenage girl have been arrested following the death of a six-year-old boy. Police are currently treating the incident as an “unexplained” death. Humberside Police confirmed they were alerted by paramedics to a residence on Searby Road in Scunthorpe at approximately 9am on Monday, November 10, where the youngster was experiencing a medical emergency.
The 37-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl have now been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child. Detective Chief Insp Ben Robinson confirmed that investigators are probing the tragic incident.
“An investigation has been launched whilst we carry out lines of inquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding the child’s death, which is currently being treated as unexplained,” he stated, reports the Mirror.
According to additional reports, the six-year-old was rushed to hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
Both the woman and the teenager remain in police custody, helping officers with their enquiries, the force confirmed.
A scene guard has also been put in place at the property.
