Drivers on the M1 were strongly advised to steer clear of the area as traffic began to mount and significant hold-ups were anticipated – it comes after a vehicle veered off the road
Motorists are facing severe delays on the M1 after a car veered off the road. The incident has led to the closure of the motorway southbound between junctions 37 and 36, according to National Highways.
Drivers are being advised to steer clear of the area. Traffic cameras at 7am, revealed queues already starting to snake from junction 35.
National Highways warned that normal traffic flow isn’t likely to resume before 11am, reports the Express. The National Highways stated: “The M1 in South Yorkshire is closed in both directions between J36 (Tankersley) and J37 (Barnsley) due to collision involving a car”
“South Yorkshire Police remain in attendance to carry out a collision investigation. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene to assist with traffic management.
“There is currently no estimated time of when the road will fully re-open.”
