A TV star has been shot dead while leaving a dance rehearsal as fans flood social media with tributes, messages of praise and condolences for his heartbroken girlfriend
A Strictly Come Dancing star has been shot dead. Fede Dorcaz, 29, was killed in Mexico City on October 9 in what is being described as an attempted robbery, which happened after the singer left a rehearsal for the Mexican version of the BBC dancing competition titled Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy.
Police are currently looking for four suspects. The Mexico City Secretariat of Public Safety said that Fede was attacked as he attempted to exit a ring road and died instantly after he was shot in the neck.
A spokesperson said: “Video surveillance cameras in the area are being analysed to identify the likely perpetrators who, according to initial reports, were travelling on two motorcycles.”
Fede was leaving to drive home at the time. The Argentinian model and singer had been living in Mexico and back in May, Rolling Stone branded him “the rising Latin star ready to redefine global Latin pop.”
The singer is best known for his hit songs Cara Bonita, which translates to Pretty Face, and Moka, which he had performed with his partner. A tribute was posted to the Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy Instagram account which read: “The HOY family mourns the sad passing of our friend and colleague Fede Dorcaz.”
“We share in the grief felt by his entire family, his parents and his girlfriend Mariana Avila. Mariana and Fede were one of the couples scheduled to appear in the new season of Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy. Fede leaves a huge void in our team. His memory and his passion will continue to inspire us forever. Rest in peace, Fede Dorcaz.”
The singer was soon set to make his series debut and fans have flooded social media with tributes and prayers. One person wrote: “It’s a shame that such horrible people exist in this world. No-one, Fede included, deserved something this cruel.”
Another told his girlfriend Mariana: “I hope and pray that God gives you a long of peace and tranquility at such a difficult moment in your life.”
