Nicole Kidman has taken on some steamy roles over recent years, including Babygirl and Netflix’s A Family Affair, in which she romped with Zac Efron
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s split has surprised the showbiz world, with the couple separating after 19 years of marriage. While there may have been signs that Nicole, 58, and Keith, 57, were on the rocks, she was reportedly left “blindsided” but is now said to have filed for divorce.
However according to reports, Nicole’s recent steamy roles took a toll on Keith, who didn’t enjoy the teasing about his wife’s on-screen romps with younger men. She appeared in Netflix film A Family Affair opposite Zac Efron, 37, and in the orgasm-heavy Babygirl, with Harris Dickinson, 29.
During a radio interview last year, Keith was asked about Nicole’s recent on-screen romps – and he didn’t react well.
He was asked: “What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron, having these beautiful scenes?”
It appeared he ended the call, and the hosts were left saying: “He hates us – I knew that was going to happen. I’ve had this feeling that they don’t like these personal questions at all.”
A source claimed to The Sun : “Keith put a brave face on Nicole’s raunchy screen roles and all the comments she’d make about her sexuality.
“But he didn’t react well when people teased him about Nicole getting it on with hunky younger guys, albeit only on camera, and it was a sensitive topic that became a real issue as time wore on.
“Yes, he knew what he was getting into when he married a superstar, but there was always a lingering sense to a lot of folk that he was shoe-horning himself into a life that ultimately didn’t suit him.”
In fact, it appears those raunchy roles also took a toll on Nicole, despite her praise for how they portrayed female sexuality.
She said of Babygirl: “There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm any more. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life! I’m over it.’
“There were parts that are now not in the film that we shot that gave me… it was exhausting, but it was also just emotionally disturbing.”
A Family Affair director Richard LaGravenese also spoke of how great she was opposite Zac Efron.
He said: “They were very comfortable with each other, Nic and Zac.
“They know what they’re doing. They had no inhibitions about it.
“They just went for it, and it was great.”
