This weekend, BBC viewers will see 15 celebrities take to the ballroom as a new series of Strictly Come Dancing begins
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing are in for a treat as the new series is set to premiere this weekend.
BBC viewers can look forward to seeing celebrities such as Dani Dyer, Vicky Pattison, George Clarke, Ross King and Balvinder Sopal, who recently sustained an injury, strut their stuff on the dance floor.
The launch show will reveal which professional dancers have been paired with the celebrity contestants.
Judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke will also be getting their first look at the talent this year’s participants bring to the table.
In the lead up to the series’ first episode, judge Shirley Ballas shared a heartfelt post on Instagram this week, honouring her mother, reports Wales Online.
She posted two photos to commemorate the occasion, one featuring them posing on the stairs with golden 88 balloons, and another of them raising their glasses at a restaurant.

The Strictly star captioned the post: “How blessed am I that I can still be by the side of my 88-year-old mother. Happy Birthday to my best friend, my world, my everything.
“You are the most incredible, inspirational, kind, caring, loving, very direct, bit of a pain in the a** person I know lol… sorry mum.
“You are irreplaceable, you are the queen of my world. Every day I go to work and I cannot wait to get home just to see what you’ve cooked, if you’ve been tidying and hanging up my clothes in my closet or to tell you about my stories from the dance studio.
“You get excited about the small things in life and I just love that about you. You are loved by sooo many, you truly do not know how many lives you have and continue to touch.”
Shirley, whose mum will be turning 89 next year, expressed her hopes of inheriting her mother’s youthful looks.
The BBC star shared with her followers her aspiration to be a role model, much like her mother has been for her.
Before dubbing her the ‘one and only Queen’ of her life, Shirley added: “I feel blessed and gifted to have her as my mother.”
It didn’t take long for people to respond to the post, with many extending their birthday wishes to her mother.
Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford commented: “Happy Birthday to your gorgeous Mum….she looks AMAZING!”
Another fan gushed: “She is so beautiful!!! Happy Birthday!!!” A third person remarked: “She looks incredible. You are a fab duo. Happy Birthday Xx”
Strictly Come Dancing begins airing on Saturday, 20 September at 6.40pm on BBC One.
