The results from Donald Trump’s “routine yearly check-up” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center were made public by the White House on Friday
The White House released the results of President Donald Trump’s “routine yearly check-up” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday.
White House physician, Capt. Sean Barbabella, stated that Trump “remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical performance.”
He also noted that the president’s “cardiac age” was found to be about 14 years younger than his actual age of 79, and that the check-up was “part of his ongoing health maintenance plan”. Barbabella’s summary of Trump’s health closely echoes his April statement, where he once again asserted Trump displayed “excellent cognitive and physical health.”
However, shortly after his April results were made public, the White House announced that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, which is likely the cause of his severely swollen ankles. Since then, Trump has also been seen with a recurring dark bruise on the back of his right hand, noticeable drooping on one side of his face, apparent difficulty walking in a straight line, and various apparent cognitive lapses.
Social media users were quick to question the authenticity of Barbabella’s Friday announcement, reports the Mirror US.
One user queried: “If his health was so exceptional in April, why did he need a follow-up exam 6 months later with a multi-disciplinary team and ‘comprehensive lab studies’ just 6 months later?”
“’14 years younger than his chronological age…’ said NO ONE EVER,” another ridiculed.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced in a statement on Wednesday that Trump would be visiting Walter Reed Medical Center for a scheduled meeting with military personnel.
The president had his yearly health check-up at Walter Reed back in April, which encompassed diagnostic tests and laboratory work, offering the first glimpse into the president’s wellbeing during his second stint in office.
White House doctor Sean Barbabella declared in a memorandum following that initial examination that Trump was in “excellent health.”
The White House has not disclosed the reasoning behind Trump undergoing another medical assessment.
“President exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” Barbabella penned in the April document.
The memorandum also mentioned a cholesterol medication and noted that Trump fell within the overweight bracket.
At 79, Trump holds the record as the eldest individual to secure the presidency. He was merely a few months senior to former President Joe Biden’s age when Biden claimed victory in 2020.
Trump’s health has been the subject of online whispers and conjecture recently, following his absence from the public eye for several days prior to the Labor Day weekend.
A noticeable bruise on the back of his right hand, often seemingly masked with makeup, has also sparked speculation in recent months.
Back in February, the White House attributed the bruise to Trump’s relentless work schedule, stating it was a result of him “constantly working and shaking hands all day every day.”
