Manchester United have launched the next phase of their consultation with supporters on the club’s plans to build a new 100,000-capacity stadium at Old Trafford
Manchester United have kicked off the next stage of their consultation with fans over plans to construct a swanky new £2 billion stadium, boasting a capacity of 100,000.
Having unveiled these ambitious plans in March, the Red Devils are now encouraging supporters to voice their opinions on various potential features of the stadium, including facilities, seating and pricing options.
The survey, conducted by commercial research firm CSL, is part of United’s pledge to put fans at the heart of the future planning for Old Trafford.
This call for fan feedback on the proposed new ground follows an initial phase of fan research carried out a year ago, which gathered the views of more than 50,000 supporters.
It also comes after a series of focus groups held in July, aimed at using the insights and feedback to shape the next stage of design development, reports the Manchester Evening News.
All match-attending fans – including season ticket holders, official members and hospitality buyers – received an email on Thursday with a link to participate in the survey.
United are keen to preserve and enhance the match-day atmosphere with any move to a new stadium, harnessing the passion of their fans and safeguarding the club’s rich fan culture.
With this in mind, United have committed to ensuring a core group of match-going fans play a central role in shaping the new stadium and that their voices are heard throughout the planning process.
United are resolute that the Stretford End’s lively, vocal backing from die-hard fans, which sets the atmosphere on match-days, should not be watered down due to a shift to a new stadium.
Moreover, United have pledged to keep ticket prices for matches at the new ground within reach of young fans, with plans to introduce premium options to offset the cost of cheaper tickets.
As part of the latest consultation, supporters will be quizzed about their preferences, priorities and expectations, including facilities, seating and pricing options for the proposed new home ground.
To do this, United will present a variety of hypothetical product and pricing scenarios across different seating categories, aiming to measure interest and demand from their fan base.
The survey will also explore the possibility of a seat licence option, where fans could secure the right to purchase tickets for matches and other events at Old Trafford over an extended period, either through a one-off payment or a series of instalments.
This wouldn’t impact traditional season ticket holders who would continue to enjoy their usual perks, including the same seat for every game and the chance to apply for away game and cup final tickets.
Supporters have until the stroke of midnight on November 6 to complete the survey.
