WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT: A machete thug launched a brutal attack on a man in a Glasgow pub as punters sang karaoke – with the victim left with serious injuries being treated in hospital
A machete-wielding thug launched a brutal attack on a man enjoying a quiet pint in front of terrified punters. The bloody assault took place at Bells Bar in Springburn, Glasgow last Friday.
A 39-year-old man was rushed to hospital with severe injuries after being targeted with the large blade. It is understood the attack was not random.
The assailant, donning a hat and a grey hoodie, was caught on CCTV entering the pub and pushing past karaoke-singing customers, reports the Daily Record. In the video, he is seen approaching a table before drawing out a footlong blade from behind his back.
He delivers a violent blow to a man seated at the table. The attacker then unleashes four more strikes on his victim in a frenzied onslaught.
Blood splatters across the walls above the table as the victim tries to shield his face from the machete. In an attempt to evade further blows, the victim leaps onto a seating area,.
A man and woman standing near the knifeman throw their hands up in the air as he flees the scene, still clutching the blade.
Remarkably, the savage assault went unnoticed by the merry pub-goers who continued to embrace and sing John Denver’s 1971 hit ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ into a karaoke microphone.
One customer, who was filming the sing-a-long, captured the moment people noticed the bleeding victim slumped at the table. Police rushed to the pub, and the 39-year-old man was swiftly taken to Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary.
He remains in hospital, having sustained serious injuries. A horrified witness recounted to the Record: “It’s absolutely horrific and shocking. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and having a nice wee night out with some karaoke in a quiet local pub and the next thing a machete maniac is storming in and hacking at a guy having a pint.
“The sound the machete making contact is horrific. I couldn’t believe my ears. It just shows the force of the blows he was raining down.
“It’s worrying that he’s not been caught yet and hopefully the police get him soon.” Police are currently conducting an investigation to locate the assailant.
The Celtic-memorabilia adorned pub is a favoured haunt for Hoops fans on match days.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated: “Around 11pm on Friday, 26 September, 2025, we were called to a report of a man being seriously assaulted within licensed premises on Springburn Way, Glasgow.
