Emmerdale’s Oliver Farnworth, who plays John Sugden, could be set for a role on a rival soap after his village exit
Emmerdale John Sugden actor Oliver Farnworth’s new job has been ‘unveiled’ following his Dales exit.
Oliver joined the ITV soap last year as John, the long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby) – and it didn’t take him long to cause plenty of drama. This year, it was revealed that John was responsible for the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) in September 2024.
In a bid to cover his tracks, John dumped Nate’s body into a river – but when his body was discovered, John managed to frame an innocent person for the crime.
However, in recent weeks, the truth about John’s crimes came out following a showdown on a cliff with husband Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
With everyone out to get him, John blackmailed Caleb Miligan (William Ash) to help him go on the run. If he didn’t, he would tell the police about his wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) murdering Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day).
However, it soon emerged that Nate’s dad Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was in on a secret plan with Caleb and ambushed John, with Cain unleashing his anger for killing Nate.
But now, with the truth finally out about John, the character’s exit could be just around the corner. What’s more, actor Oliver Farnworth is being tipped for a spot on another soap.
Bookies Betway are convinced Oliver will head to Walford for a stint on BBC’s EastEnders. The 12/1 has odds of 12/1. Prior to his Emmerdale stint, Oliver appeared in ITV’s Coronation Street as Andy Carver from 2014 to 2017. He also starred on Hollyoaks from 2006 to 2007 as Will Hackett.
That’s not all though, as the bookies have chalked up odds of 10/1 for Oliver to appear on the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
A return to the theatre could be happening too for Oliver, with odds of 3/1. Meanwhile, a gig on a Netflix / Amazon show has odds of 8/1.
Oliver’s not the only Emmerdale star rumoured to be heading on I’m A Celebrity. It was recently reported that Mandy Dingle star Lisa Riley is being lined up for a stint.
An industry source revealed to The Sun: “Lisa is the perfect celebrity for the show because not only is she from a soap watched by millions she’s one of its biggest characters and it’s an ITV show to boot.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
