Liverpool are running out of time to get deals over the line before the summer transfer window slams shut on Monday evening, with Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi both on the Reds’ radar
With less than 48 hours left in the summer transfer window, the Alexander Isak saga continues. The striker remains a Newcastle player, but hasn’t been seen in the club’s colours since May.
Liverpool’s £110million bid was turned down earlier this month and the Reds have yet to up their offer. Currently training solo after missing all of Newcastle’s pre-season and their first three Premier League matches, Isak is insistent that he won’t don the Magpies’ jersey again following recent discussions with the club’s top brass.
Liverpool aren’t willing to fork out close to £130m for Isak, it has been reported. The Reds already broke the British transfer record earlier this summer by splashing out an astonishing £116m on Florian Wirtz – a sum less than what Newcastle would demand for Isak.
However, talkSPORT has reported that Liverpool have no intention of shelling out anywhere near £130m for the Swedish striker. Isak, on the other hand, remains ‘confident’ that an agreement will be reached between the two clubs.
It comes as Liverpool’s chase for Marc Guehi is reportedly fuelled by concerns that Ibrahima Konate may be swayed by Real Madrid, according to Mirror Football. Konate’s contract with the Reds runs out in June 2026 and he could potentially follow Trent Alexander-Arnold’s path by moving to Madrid on a free transfer.
Guehi, aged 25, is Liverpool’s primary centre-back target and a £35m fee has been suggested. Crystal Palace, however, are keen on securing two signings before giving the green light for his exit, which could push this deal right up to Monday’s deadline.
Also, Kostas Tsimikas arrived in Italy on Saturday to undergo a medical ahead of his season-long loan move to Roma. After Liverpool signed Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez for £40m, 29 year old Tsimikas found himself third in line for the left-back position at Anfield.
The Greek defender’s move is a straight loan with no option to buy. Tsimikas has two years remaining on his contract with Liverpool.
