NCC board cites Conzatti’s pluses
The editorial “Give NCC a new leader, fresh start” Opinion, Editorial, Nov. 23] overlooks the significant progress at Nassau Community College under Maria Conzatti, the college’s chief administrative officer and nominee for permanent president.
Conzatti’s dedication to a student-first approach has resulted in remarkable results, making NCC a leader in enrollment growth among all community colleges in New York State. She has successfully eliminated a multimillion-dollar deficit while ensuring that all faculty members retain their positions, showcasing her effective management skills.
After a period of poor results, Conzatti secured full accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education for the next eight years. Her leadership has also driven initiatives that have improved student outcomes, with NCC’s three-year graduation rate at 23.6%. Having led these advancements for the past three years, Conzatti’s stable and visionary leadership is essential for the continued growth of NCC. With unanimous support, the board of trustees believes Maria Conzatti is the perfect choice to steer our institution toward a bright and prosperous future.

Town attorney lifts outside legal fees?
Town of Hempstead residents should be outraged at the number of “outside” attorneys that the town board has approved for hiring in the Supervisor John Ferretti Jr. contempt proceeding [“Town hires firm representing Ferretti retained in town contempt case,” Our Towns, Nov. 20].
The board sets a fee schedule and then authorizes the town attorney to negotiate higher fees without board approval. What? This is ludicrous.
What is the purpose of the town attorney if outside firms are hired to do the actual work? Taxpayers are paying the town attorney’s salary and the outside firms’ lawyers.
All Ferretti, Town Clerk Kate Murray, Councilman Thomas Muscarella and Councilwoman Laura Ryder had to do was to show up to court for a hearing. Their attorney showed up but did not supply the required documentation to the judge.
