Leticia Puentes, 39, was arrested after law enforcement arrived at her family home to discover her son bleeding from a wound behind his ear, after an argument concerning his behaviour
A woman has been accused of stabbing her son with a fork during an argument over his punctuality.
Leticia Puentes, 39, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon according to Miami-Dade County jail records. The alleged incident occurred last week in Miami, Florida, after Puentes and her teenage son argued around 8:15am on a school morning.
After the son allegedly started throwing items around the room, the pair began to tussle on the floor. Puentes “grabbed a fork and stabbed him behind the ear,” the son said according to local media.
The disagreement reportedly erupted over a phone bill and the son’s tardiness at school. The police soon arrived at the home and saw the son with a “fresh bleeding puncture wound” behind his right ear.
Miami-Dade County first responders reportedly treated the alleged victim’s injury at the home.
Puentes admitted to stabbing her son with the fork although she reportedly claimed it was in self-defence. The mum was arrested and booked into Turner Guildford Knight Correctional Centre and is now being held on a $3,000 bond (£2,277).
In a separate incident a man was arrested after he allegedly attacked two teenagers with a metal fork on a Lufthansa flight, causing the plane to be diverted.
The shocking incident unfolded on a flight departing from Chicago Airport and heading for an undisclosed city in Germany. Passengers were left gobsmacked as the man allegedly launched an unprovoked attack on the teens.
The aircraft was subsequently redirected to Boston’s Logan International Airport where local coppers detained the suspect. As more details come to light, it appears that the teenagers weren’t his only targets.
NBC News reported that Praneeth Kumar Usiripalli, a 28-year-old Indian national, has been formally charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to do bodily harm. The charges relate to the incident which occurred on Saturday (October 25).
