Kelly Brook is to star in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here starting on Sunday evening, and she’ll be hoping for less of a rumble in the jungle than she once had with an England superstar
“It had all gone very Jerry Springer,” Kelly Brook wrote in her autobiography, looking back at her tumultous romance with an England superstar.
Kelly, who will star in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here on Sunday evening, had just thrown a right hook at Danny Cipriani – rugby’s ultimate showman and pin-up at the time.
The ex-Wasps, Melbourne Rebels, Sale Sharks, Gloucester and Bath fly-half had handed his phone number to a stripper, and Kelly had found out. The former Big Breakfast presenter and model did not hold back.
She recalled: “I saw Danny walking towards me, ‘Babe’ he said, ‘I’ve been looking for you!’ I punched him straight in the face!
“At that point, four bouncers leaped on me. They picked me up like the crazy, drunk, betrayed woman I was. It had all gone very Jerry Springer.”
The couple had been holidaying together, when their stormy relationship took its latest spectacular turn.
Cipriani had gone for a lap dance at a Las Vegas club, with the blessing of Kelly. : “It all started because I was very p*****. I was having a dance and it felt like she was doing a bit more than a dance.
“I started chatting some cheesy lyrics to her,” he admitted in his autobiography.
He told the stripper he was breaking up with Kelly and would be back in Sin City next week – which she relayed to pals in the toilets, all in front of the model.
“Kelly came out and slapped me around the face…It all felt like some massive crazy reality show.”
He added: “Me and Kelly were in a position where she kept trying to break up with me, and I felt like she was pushing and pulling away from me all the time.
“And that up and down feeling made me feel a bit like, ‘F*** it, if that’s the case’. I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do, but that’s how I felt.”
They would split in 2010, but rekindle their romance a couple of years later – only to go their separate ways once more in 2015.
Cipriani claimed the pair secretly met in Mauritius while Kelly was holidaying with his team-mate, Thom Evans: “I felt like it was fair game… I felt like what was mine wasn’t mine any more,” he said.
“I was friends with Thom. It was definitely a difficult scenario.”
While Kelly admitted their flame had never fully extinguished: “The passion had never gone, there was an unfinished business between us. He was a complicated man-child that I wanted to figure out.!
However, once she found out he’d been unfaithful, it was over for good: “I decided to call them. One by one. Young women, old women. Married and single – even the mother of one of his friends.
“I kept going, calling up four more women, until I realised I could potentially be hurting other innocent parties. It was time to get out for good.”
Kelly is now happily married to Jeremy Parisi, who she started dating in 2015.
