A real-life Coronation Street couple shared a rare scene together in an episode
Coronation Street fans were left delighted after a real-life married couple shared a scene together in a rare moment on the soap.
Stars Joe Duttine and Sally Carman play Tim Metcalfe and Abi Webster on the ITV soap. Tim rocked up to the cobbles in 2013, while Abi made her debut in 2017.
A romance eventually blossomed between Sally and Joe away from the soap, and during lockdown they decided to take their relationship to the next level by getting engaged.
In 2021, Sally said: “Coronation Street has completely changed my life, I feel really settled. I’ve got myself a fiancé, I’ve moved house, and I’ve got a family and brilliant friends.”
Then, in 2022 Joe and Sally tied the knot and have gone from strength to strength since.
However, even though their characters are connected through Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) past relationship, they don’t often appear on screen together.
But during Friday’s episode (August 29) viewers were excited to see Sally and Joe interact as Abi confided in Tim about her recent struggles with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
Shaking their delight, one person on a Corrie Facebook fan page said: “Did anyone see Abi and Tim in tonight’s episode, they’re together in real life.” Someone else added: “Oh wow I didn’t know this.”
A third chimed in: “I saw it, it was sweet wasn’t it, they need more scenes together!” Echoing their thoughts, another fan declared: “I agree.”
Meanwhile, earlier this year Sally opened up about her real-life romance with Joe. However, it seems she is not a fan of working with him.
“I love Joe to bits, but I don’t like working with him – I’m never going to like working with him,” she told The Mirror. Sally added: “Bless him, we’ve got very different work processes – let’s just put it like that. I like to come fully prepared and he likes to flesh it out on the floor.
“Also, he’s very funny. I’m such a giggler and once I’ve gone, I’m gone. It’s terrible and even if people get annoyed about it, it doesn’t help.”
