If you’re looking to save money on your car insurance, there’s a simple way to do it. Money Saving Expert has shared a tool that could help you slash your quotes in minutes
Motoring specialists have revealed a straightforward method for drivers to cut their expenses by up to £350 annually. This digital platform could help you dramatically reduce your motor insurance premiums in minutes.
Vehicle insurance remains mandatory across the UK. Police can issue drivers a £300 fixed penalty and six points on their licence if caught operating an uninsured vehicle. Court proceedings could result in unlimited fines and driving bans. Consequently, annual vehicle insurance renewal is crucial.
Nevertheless, premiums can prove costly, with some motorists facing bills running into thousands for coverage. Fortunately, when insurance quotations appear particularly steep, measures exist to potentially lower them. Money Saving Expert (MSE), Martin Lewis’ platform, suggests one such approach, reports the Mirror.
The site recommends utilising its Compare+ Car Insurance digital tool to reduce expenses. MSE stated on its platform: “We pay 40 per cent more for car insurance than we did in 2021, yet things have turned the corner, with prices down 10.5 per cent over the last 12 months.”
The site cautioned: “But that means you must be alert, don’t just accept your renewal. Even if it’s five per cent cheaper, you can probably still do better.”
MSE added: “To help you save, we’ve added new ‘Price Impact Indicators’ to our Compare+ Car Insurance tool.”

One MSE reader revealed how she slashed £350 off her bill using the tool. Colleen explained: “My car renewal had increased by £150, so I used your Compare+ tool and found the same level of cover £350 cheaper. I am now going to use Compare+ Home Insurance to review that too. Big, big thank you.”
Further to this, after analysing your data, the Compare+ tool will show you other ways to try to cut your costs further such as:
- Will upping the voluntary excess (the amount you pay towards a claim) save you money?
- Can you pay annually rather than monthly?
- Could you legitimately tweak your job title to save?
- Is there a responsible driver you can add to your policy?
- Can you save by combining your home and car insurance?
