The terror group are looking over the 20 point plan which would result in all hostages being released, Palestinian prisoners being freed and a surge of aid into Gaza
Hamas could be on the brink of accepting an historic peace plan to stop the atrocities in Gaza.
Leaders in Palestine are said to be “leaning towards” accepting a 20-point peace plan put forward by Donald Trump. The terror group are expected to present the group’s response to Egyptian and Qatari mediators on Wednesday, a source has claimed.
Negotiators for Hamas have been “reviewing” the plan for peace in Gaza “in good faith” as world leaders including PM Keir Starmer lined up to urge them to “end the misery” going on in the region.
The US President’s 20-point plan was unveiled on Monday, and has the backing of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In the plan it calls for an immediate ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces to “an agreed upon line”, and the release of all the hostages, followed by the release of Palestinian prisoners and a surge of aid into Gaza to help the wounded.
Gaza will then be temporarily governed by a transitional committee of qualified Palestinian and international experts, with oversight from a new international transitional body, referred to as the “Board of Peace” which will be headed by Trump.
Keir Starmer said he was “grateful for President Trump’s leadership” in the matter, adding: “We strongly support his efforts to end the fighting, release the hostages and ensure the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza. This is our top priority and should happen immediately.
“We call on all sides to come together and to work with the US administration to finalise this agreement and bring it into reality.
“Hamas should now agree to the plan and end the misery, by laying down their arms and releasing all remaining hostages.
“Together with our partners, we will continue work to build consensus to put into place a permanent ceasefire.”
