Emmerdale fans have predicted the return of a legend to finally take down killer John Sugden

Emmerdale’s John Sugden could be getting what’s coming to him and be killed off by a returning soap legend, according to fans.

John (Oliver Farnworth) made his debut on the ITV soap last year, rocking up as the long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby) – and it didn’t take him long to cause plenty of drama.

This year, it was revealed that John was responsible for the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) in September 2024.

In a bid to cover his tracks, John dumped Nate’s body into a river – but when his body was discovered, John managed to frame an innocent person for the crime.

However, in recent weeks the truth about John came out, with everyone in the village aware of his sick crimes – including Nate’s dad Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

This week, John attempted to go on the run, and blackmailed Caleb Miligan (William Ash) to help. And now, with the walls closing in on John, fans reckon someone from John’s past will return and take him down.

Online, fans have predicted that Ella Forster (Paula Lane) could kill John. Viewers will recall that Ella made her debut in 2024 and it was revealed she had killed her friend when they were kids.

Taking advantage of Ella’s past, John framed Ella for a series of crimes during her stint on the soap. These include drugging her love rival at Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Pargeter) engagement party to Ella’s ex Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).

Ella insisted she was innocent but Chas and Liam refused to believe her. And after John made it out like Ella was behind it, the village turned against her and Ella’s mental health spiralled.

She ended up getting arrested in April after attacking Liam with a rock, and was swiftly sent away to prison. But according to fans, Ella could be making a comeback to get her revenge and kill John off.

On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: “You know who needs to kill John off? Ella, especially as she was set up by him if you remember.” A second wrote: “I’d love it if she returned!” A third chimed in: “If this happens and she kills him, finally! Been too long.” Someone else wrote; “That would be good, justice for Ella!”
