An actor died in a Las Vegas restaurant after a medical emergency and a new lawsuit claims staff “intervened” with CPR which led to an “avoidable tragedy”
A movIe star has died after restaurant staff “forcefully interfered” with CPR, a new lawsuit has claimed.
Mike Heslin died on 2 July 2024 while in Las Vegas on a trip for his birthday. Staff at a restaurant allegedly blocked CPR from being performed during a medical emergency, a new lawsuit claims.
According to documents obtained by Daily Mail, the Hallmark star’s husband Scotty Dyanmo has claimed that the staff allowed an “avoidable tragedy” through “multiple failures” to provide emergency care.
The lawsuit was filed on 18 September 2025 and Scotty claims that Mike had “exhibited obvious signs of a medical emergency” but was not helped by staff, who he also claims “forcefully interfered” with a nearby customer that tried to perform CPR on the actor.
Mike’s friends also claim that although there was an AED (automated external defibrillator) on the property at the time, staff did not retrieve it during the incident.
According to the lawsuit, his friends also claim they were “forcefully removed” and were “threatened with arrest”. They also allege that restaurant staff “demanded” videos of the incident be deleted from their phones.
MGM Resorts International has denied the accusations in a statement to Page Six: “These claims are not aligned with the facts and we will respond through the legal process.”
The restaurant is being sued for five counts of wrongful death, loss of consortium, negligence, negligent hiring, retention, training and supervision, and gross negligence. Scotty is seeking damages in excess of $30,000, funeral expenses and punitive damages.
In an Instagram post shortly after Mike’s death in 2024, Scotty shared a touching tribute to his husband. He shared pictures of them together and branded him “brilliant, selfless, talented and a real-life guardian angel” who had “single-handedly carried him through multiple rounds of cancer”.
