Tom Holland was reportedly rushed to hospital on Friday after a stunt he was filming for an upcoming Spider-Man movie went wrong.
Tom Holland, the British actor famed for his role as Spider-Man, was reportedly rushed to hospital last Friday following a mishap during a stunt for an upcoming film in the franchise.
The 29 year old is believed to have suffered a concussion after cracking his head in a fall on September 19.
According to The Sun, a woman, presumed to be a stunt double, was also whisked off to hospital in an ambulance. Filming for the $200 million production of Spider-Man: Brand New Day at Leavesden Studios in Watford, England, has been put on pause and could remain so for several weeks.
A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance Service confirmed to the publication: “We were called at 10.30am on Friday to attend to a patient who had sustained an injury at Leavesden Studios in Watford.
“An ambulance was sent to the scene, and the patient was transported to hospital for further care.”
Tom’s father, a comedian, shed some light on the situation while attending a charity dinner, stating that his son would be taking a break from filming “for a while.”
The actor himself was present at the Mayfair event, along with his fiancée Zendaya, reports the Mirror US.
It was reported that Tom had to leave the event early due to feeling unwell.
The last time Sony Pictures had revealed details about the new film, the company revealed the movie is scheduled to hit theatres on July 31, 2026.
The actor had previously shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming Spider-Man film. In a chat with Complex, he revealed, “It’s been a really fun process developing the movie.”
In contrast to previous films, Tom has taken a more proactive role behind the scenes. Prior to filming, he conducted some “sneaky research” into fans’ reactions to earlier films to “put together a vibe of what people were looking for” in the forthcoming instalment.
He has collaborated with the producers to translate the audience’s desires onto the screen.
He confessed, “It’s the first time I’ve ever been allowed in that part of the process, and it’s definitely a stressful experience. But I think where we’ve got to, now that we’re shooting, we are shooting absolute gold.
“Its a fresh start, it really feels like we’re not making the fourth movie,” he added. “We’re making the first movie of the next chapter,” he continued.
“It’s a rebirth. It’s a whole new thing.”
