Spurs star Yves Bissouma has reportedly been filmed inhaling laughing gas just over a year after he was suspended by the club for the same thing
Tottenham have said they are investigating footage which appears to show star midfielder Yves Bissouma inhaling laughing gas.
Bissouma was suspended by the club last summer for the same issue and at the time apologised for a ‘severe lack of judgement’. Now, the Sun reports that Bissouma sent a video of himself inhaling a nitrous oxide balloon once again.
They claim the footage appears to have been filmed in the early hours of November 3 and was sent to a woman from a party in London.
She told The Sun on Sunday: “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Bissouma was openly inhaling from the balloon even though he had been in trouble before for doing this.”
A Spurs spokesman told The Sun: “We are looking into the events and it will be dealt with as an internal matter.”
Bissouma, 29, previously missed the opening day of the 2024/25 Premier League season after being suspended by the club.
Former Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou imposed the suspension on the Mali international after footage showed him inhaling a balloon in a chauffeur-driven limousine.
At the time, Postecoglou said: “Been in the game for a long time, when a situation like this arises, I’ve tried to look at them in a couple of ways.
“First there’s a person and it’s Biss and he’s made a poor decision.
“There are still sanctions involved, and some of those are educational. He is a footballer with responsibilities.”
Bissouma later issued an apology, which read: “This was a severe lack of judgment. I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved, and I also take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously.”
Nitrous oxide, often referred to as laughing gas or ‘hippy crack’, was made illegal in 2023 with possession and sale for recreational purposes considered a criminal offence.
Individuals found in possession could face a caution or an unlimited fine. Repeat offenders could serve up to two years in prison.
